COVID 19 Innocuous impact to Insurance Agency Transactions

COVID19 has without a doubt caused widespread change and disruption to life as we know it in virtually every industry. The most obvious examples include restaurants, shopping and closure of parks, concerts and other gatherings.

Now over three months into the Covid19 era, I am in a position to comment on what impact it has had on my operation as an insurance agent and how I foresee the future impact as well.

In earlier times, insurance was something commonly done face to face. Since insurance isn't exactly a tangable good and in most circumstances it can be handled over the phone and through email, this allows for social distancing with little or no additional effort. Many agents use applications such as facetime and Zoom which create a more personalized atmosphere for transactions. While some of my customers still prefer in person meetings, especially the older generations not as versed in email and other platforms, COVID19 has had a very minimal impact on my operation which has predoninantly been handled over the phone for the past 11 years to begin.

The changes I have noticed are more economic and on a large scale . These changes trigger reviews and lead to changes or adjustments. People who have been laid off and have more time on their hands to shop their insurance or find ways to lower their costs. In California , the number of annual miles driven can affect premiums so many customers have been making adjustments in that regard or to their business activity for commercial policies.

Overall the insurance markets and agency operation seem to have remained relatively stable and COVID19 has had an innocuous effect so far.

We are starting to open our doors again to limited in person appointments as well , as long as proper measures are taken. Please call us for a consultation about your insurance anytime.
