What You Should Focus On Other Than Just Insurance Price

By the end of this short post, I hope to simply convey the importance of not just focusing on the price you are paying for insurance as there are numerous components of an insurance policy regardless of the line of business.

While it is always a good idea to be somewhat savvy as far as comparing  insurance rates and coverage, you may unknowingly take the low cost bait from a discount broker house who is promising a seemingly lower priced insurance policy than what you have. Prior to switching over, I would suggest checking the department of insurance website www.insurance.ca.gov to review the credibility and reputation of a given carrier, especially if it is one you have never heard of. One of the largest shortcomings a company will not tell you about is their inability to properly service and settle your claims. After all, that is what you are paying for. The most common story I have heard from refugees of other carriers who were reeled in by the red tag special low rates is poor claim settlement on an auto insurance policy. One gentleman I represented dealt with his car being stolen which had been modified and restored entirely. The carrier only agreed to pay the base bluebook value of the car although the car was worth 4 times more than that in the condition it was in and with the additions it had. I specifically offer an option to my policy holders with coverage of additional equipment to protect them in case they find themselves in a situation like that one.

In a nutshell, there are many carriers out there after your money and will potentially offer an inferior product to what you have and may not take the time to explain what you are giving up in exchange for a lower price. Just as the saying goes,"if it sounds too good to be true than it probably is".
